Happy Happy Joy Joy
How’s it going? How is 2015 treating you? I have to admit I haven’t really got the hang of it yet. I know some people love the New Year, new beginnings and all that. I find this time of year a tad challenging. I slipped on the stairs last night and hurt my foot. I started my day hobbling around feeling sorry for my self and out of sorts.
But then I got to drop a very very excited 11-year-old off at school with his skis. This evening is the first of Ronan’s school ski club trips. Ronan is over the moon about every detail; getting to ski with his school friends, getting to buy his dinner at the hill and not getting back until 10pm. “ I may be so tired I might fall asleep on the bus and you’ll have to carry me to the car” he says with glee.
Next I take Apollo to the dog park. It’s busy by Frenchtown standards and the puppy from down the road, Pepper, has joined us. Apollo can barely contain himself. He bounds out of the car and does his little dance of excitement and impatience at the gate. Then leaps around the park in a very good imitation of Tiger.
This is it, the major perk of having children and pets around. They take such absolute unabashed joy in things, and you get to bask in it for a moment. Until you go back to worrying about your time managements skills and how it's possible for a human woman over forty to be so clumsy.
